Brussels is one of the great capital cities of Europe, and this thumbnail
sketch could not do it justice. It really does have something for everyone, with
an excellent reputation for all kinds of cultural events and a thriving
nightlife. Many consider Brussels the equal of Paris in terms of restaurants,
and it is often less expensive. It boasts numerous museums and churches, and the
spectacular Grand Place, with its exquisite guildhouses and town hall, is the
favourite starting point for many excursions around the city and its sights,
most of which are in the relatively compact area enclosed by ring of Boulevards,
le Petit Ring. We recommend at least a couple of nights and a good guide book to
make the most of this lovely city.
