Transmanche Ferries direct for the best prices
The Transmanche Ferries fleet consists of
two brand-new vessels, the Côte d’Albâtre and the Seven Sisters, both
technically first-rate and exceptionally comfortable. In particular, these two
sister ships, launched in 2006, are equipped with highly effective stabilization
systems allowing a quick and pleasant crossing whatever the season. Transmanche
Ferries runs an all-year ferry service between Newhaven and Dieppe with up to
three crossings daily.
In just four hours, Transmanche Ferries takes you from Newhaven, the UK ferry
port closest to London, to Dieppe, ideally situated in Upper Normandy with fast
connections to Paris and all parts of Northern France.
Newhaven is easy to reach, just 34 miles from the M25. Just take the M25
around the south of London and join the M23 at exit 7. Then follow the M23/A23
until you reach the Brighton and Hove bypass where you join the A27 towards
Lewes then the A26 into Newhaven, where the ferry port is clearly signed.
Dieppe is a great place to start your journey in France, although you might
like to stop over in the town, with its good shops, excellent restaurants and
fine beach, all overlooked by a magnificent Chateau. It's just a 2 hour journey
to the Paris inner ring road, the Périphérique. The road towards Rouen is
clearly marked, from where you take the A13 to Paris. Those heading south
towards the Dordogne and Bordeaux take the A13 for a short distance towards Caen
before joining the new A28 which gives unbroken motorway or dual carriageway all
the way to Spain and onwards to Santander. Or if you're heading for Brittany, 28
miles after leaving Dieppe you take the A29 for Caen.

Ferries direct for the best prices
LD Lines, part of the same group as Transmanche Ferries, has launched a
new daily summer link – running from 1 May to 30 September – connecting Newhaven
and Le Havre on a new ship – the ‘Seven Sisters’. This is the fastest way to get
from the south coast to Le Havre, taking just 5 hours on the modern and
luxurious new vessel.
Le Havre is a large city and bustling port with excellent road links to
Paris, the Normandy coast, Brittany and beyond. The remarks about Dieppe, above,
apply to Le Havre also. Journey times to Paris are similar, whilst the links to
western and south-western France are even better.
