With Brittany Ferries, enjoy award winning service on board - fabulous food,
live entertainment, air conditioned cabins and the latest films. There is a
French feel as soon as you step on board, so you can start enjoying your holiday
straight away.
Portsmouth is very easy to reach with the motorway taking you right to the
dockyard gates. From here ferries sail to Caen, with good transport links into
the whole of France, especially convenient for going south now the new A28 is
open from Alencon to Tours. Or if you're going to Brittany or the south-west of
France the overnight Portsmouth to St Malo crossing means you start your journey
refreshed. St Malo is an excellent starting point, cutting a couple of hours off
the drive. During the summer a state of the art Fast Ferry operates from
Portsmouth to Cherbourg with a crossing time of just under 5 hours.
Poole to Cherbourg is also a popular route, with the conventional year-round
ferry service augmented by a Fast Ferry operated by Condor Ferries for Brittany
Ferries during the summer.
Anyone living in the Western half of the UK or wanting to visit Western Brittany
should look at the Plymouth to Roscoff service which operates throughout the
year. Plymouth is also the starting point for the service to Santander in
Northern Spain. This route is served by the luxury new vessel the Pont-Aven
which has cut journey times to just 18 hours. So you leave in the afternoon and
arrive after only one night on board this highly specified ship, which is a
holiday experience in itself, more like a cruise liner than a ferry.
