Anyone living in Northern England or Scotland should consider the Newcastle to
Amsterdam crossing as an excellent alternative to the long drive south to the
Channel Ports. You arrive in Europe refreshed after a good night's sleep. The
ferry port near Amsterdam is just a few kilometres from the motorway network
taking you south or east into Europe.

Germany is becoming more and more popular as a holiday destination. From the
clean sandy beaches of the North Sea and Baltic coasts, through the great
forests and mountains, to the balmy shores of Lake Constance and skiing in the
Bavarian Alps, it has something for everyone, at remarkably good value. Then
there are the great cities of Berlin, Hamburg, Bremen, Frankfurt and Cologne
with their architecture and sophistication, and small towns which retain their
historic character as some of the major centres of European culture.

Scandinavia offers just about everything for a great self-drive holiday. The
roads are wide and empty, and the drivers are courteous and considerate. More
than two or three cars at traffic lights are considered a traffic jam!
Experience driving like it was in the UK back in the fifties. And then there's
the scenery, especially in Sweden and Norway. Mile after mile of spectacular
fjords and mountains plunging to the sea, smooth dirt roads up in the north
where you can discover why the Scandinavians do so well at rally driving. Enjoy
the wonderful integrated public transport system of cosmopolitan Oslo. Chill out
in the myriad friendly bars of Copenhagen before setting off across the new
bridge linking Denmark to Sweden to explore the waterways of sophisticated
Stockholm.
