International Driving Permits for UK residents
Applying for an an IDP
International Driving Permits are issued by the
AA,
RAC and
Green Flag, and full
information can be obtained by visiting these organisations websites.
Personal applications for IDPs can be made at selected Post Office branch
offices. You must apply in person (this means that third party
applications will not be accepted) and complete the application form available
from the Post Office. You must produce one of the following original
valid documents:
- your UK driving licence (including paper counterpart if applicable)
- your UK pass certificate (certificate of competence to drive)
This document must be accompanied by a recent passport-sized photograph
signed on the back on normal thin photographic paper, together with some other
acceptable signed proof of identity, e.g. passport.
The Post Office acts in this as an agent for the
AA.
