Sardinia is a spectacularly beautiful island. Most people fly, but it is perfectly possible to drive to various locations in Italy and catch a ferry. Routes operate from, amongst others, Genoa, Naples, and Livorno. A wonderful way to experience the sense of the journey. But you do need 3 or 4 days to do it in comfort.

If you're not sure of your route, take a look at our route planner, which not only gives you driving directions but also shows distances and cumulative driving times. Hotels en route are shown for you to book, offering thousands of hotels in Europe at all prices. Search them by map or by list, make your choice and book!

For details of all the ferry crossings from the UK click here.

Flights are available from several UK aiports to Sardinia's three main airports, Alghero, Olbia and the main one Cagliari. In all these you can hire a car at competitive prices.

For the Eurocamp campsite at Torre del Porticciolo the nearest airport is Alghero, about 12 km from the campsite.

The campsite is in the pine forests of the Porto Conte Natural Park. So the trees provide much needed shade but there is direct access to a stunning beach in a horseshoe shaped bay. There is also a swimming pool in the campsite itself, so you've got plenty of options to keep cool.
