Sardinia is a spectacularly beautiful island. Most people fly, but it is perfectly possible to drive to various locations in Italy and catch a ferry. Routes operate from, amongst others, Genoa, Naples, and Livorno. A wonderful way to experience the sense of the journey. But you do need 3 or 4 days to do it in comfort.

If you want the freedom of bringing your own car, and the enjoyment of exploration on the journey, check out our route planner where you will also see our hotels displayed for you to book an overnight stop. For details of all the ferry crossings from the UK click here.

Flights are available from several UK aiports to Sardinia's three main airports, Alghero, Olbia and the main one Cagliari. In all these you can hire a car at competitive prices.

For the Eurocamp campsite at Torre del Porticciolo the nearest airport is Alghero, about 12 km from the campsite.

The campsite is in the pine forests of the Porto Conte Natural Park. So the trees provide much needed shade but there is direct access to a stunning beach in a horseshoe shaped bay. There is also a swimming pool in the campsite itself, so you've got plenty of options to keep cool.
