Well-known mountain resort in the Chamonix valley, only 8 km from Chamonix. Wonderful view of the Mont-Blanc massif.  Shops, restaurants, bars, discotheques, night club, tennis hall (5 courts). Numerous other entertainments and sport facilities at Chamonix.

Access: Argentiere is one of the easiest resorts in the Alps to reach; despite its high altitude skiing the resort itself is not terribly high and is close to the Mont Blanc Tunnel so there is a four lane road running right up to Chamonix which is always well maintained. The driving time from Calais is about 8 hours without stops.

The resort also boasts probably the best rail connections of any ski resort outside Japan, with a TGV high speed link via Saint Gervais travelling at around 170 mph (270 kph).  It's possible to catch the TGV 'Snow Special' in Paris on a Friday evening and be in the resort at just after 11pm. 

There are bus connections from Geneva.  Geneva is the closest international airport, only 96 km (60 miles) north west, a 95 minute drive. Low-cost airlines fly to Chambery (90 miles) and Lyon (140 miles).

The village is a blend of ancient and modern. The skiing is mostly demanding, with some fantastic pistes and over 30 off-piste runs requiring a guide.
